Stockyard Interim Striker System

GTE group were called upon by a client to install a stockyard interim striker system to restrict the movement range of mobile rail mounted machines . The system allows users to safety isolate active mining areas without having to fully isolate the stockyard machines. The system works by stopping the long travel and slew motion drives at fixed positions using the interim strikers, which can quickly be locked into and out of service. The system was developed using Functional Safety principles as a Safety Integrity Level 1 (SIL1) system to the following standards: AS62061, ISO13849, AS61508, AS4024. The design outputs produced by GTE for the project included:

  • Stakeholder Requirements Specification
  • Design Basis Report
  • Functional Specification
  • HAZID workshop package and Formal Risk Assessment
  • Functional Safety Management Plan
  • Safety Requirements Specification
  • DFMEA Calculations
  • SIL Calculations
  • LOPA Analysis
  • ICAF Cost-Benefit Analysis and Report
  • Hardware Verification and Report
  • Technical Manual
  • Factory Acceptance Test Procedure
  • Commissioning/Validation Plan
